what is your carbon footprint?

what is your carbon footprintDuring EcoAsiaExpo energyLAB conducted a survey, not of the visitors as you might expect, but other exhibitors in hall 5.

Frankly, I was expecting mediocre outcome, but the result was more shocking. The survey was simple, one easy question – What is your Carbon Footprint?

Now consider that most of these exhibitors were SME’s in the environmental sector, and were largely selling products with stated environment benefits some even stated including lower carbon emission, surely one would expect an increased level of carbon awareness,  and therefore in my view should be held to a much higher standard than joe public right? Actually, 98% did not don’t know their carbon footprint.

Stunned
Ok I was stunned. At the same time as EcoAsiaEpo there was LED lighting event in hall 2. It was risky, but an opportunity that couldn’t be over looked.  We visited the booths, asked the same question.  Sadly the result were very bad – 100% of the LED manufacturers surveyed also didn’t know their carbon footprint!

Now in mitigation, I could imagine that perhaps the front line individuals from a large organisation might be blissfully unaware of the carbon footprint. On the other hand, I was confused since each of these firms were activity touting their products in terms of an energy saving environmental solution compared to conventional lighting, yet couldn’t state their carbon footprint.
